Reducing The Stigma Of Addiction

On May 30 at The Recording Academy's headquarters in Santa Monica, Calif., MusiCares and Willingway Hospital will host Reducing The Stigma Of Addiction, a discussion on the stigmas associated with addiction and what can be done to alter common misconceptions of what it means to be an addict. The presenting speaker will be Emmy-nominated screenwriter William G. Borchert, author of My Name Is Bill W. and When Love Is Not Enough: The Lois Wilson Story. Borchert is the current trustee of the Willingway Foundation, as well as director of The Stepping Stones Foundation. Film clips and other examples will be shown to demonstrate the impact that positive messages can have on an individual's recovery and their extended support network.
