The GRAMMY Jazz Ensembles, featuring 30 high school students representing 30 cities across the United States, will travel to Los Angeles for GRAMMY Week a weeklong musical adventure. The musicians will perform at a variety of GRAMMY Week events under the direction of Justin DiCioccio of the Manhattan School of Music, Dr. Leila Heil of Colorado State University and Dr. Ron McCurdy of the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music.
The Ensembles will perform at the second annual GRAMMY In The Schools Live! — A Celebration Of Music & Education on Feb. 9 at the University of Southern California. Sponsored by the Ford Motor Company Fund with support from Best Buy and Converse, this event is open to the public and will showcase the Ensembles, along with student alumni from GRAMMY Camp and GRAMMY Signature Schools, and feature a special guest performance by current GRAMMY nominee Sara Bareilles.
The Ensembles will also make a public performance with current Best New Artist GRAMMY nominee Esperanza Spalding on Feb. 10 at Spaghettini Italian Grill & Lounge in Seal Beach, Calif.
The GRAMMY Jazz Ensembles will also perform on Feb. 11 at the 21st annual MusiCares Person of the Year tribute, honoring Barbra Streisand.
EMI Music Group has once again provided Capitol Studios & Mastering for the Ensembles to record an album on Feb. 11–12. This year's recording will join the lineup of previous albums available for purchase at online music outlets such as iTunes and Amazon.
As a grand finale, the Ensembles will attend the 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards on Feb. 13 as guests of The Recording Academy and will perform at the GRAMMY Celebration Party.
