The Washington, D.C. Chapter is currently accepting applications for summer 2010 semester internships for college students preparing for careers in the music business. All participants must be current college students studying music or a music industry-related major and be preparing for a career in the music industry. Applicants must be able to work 20 hours per week in the Chapter office during regular business hours, as well as some evenings and weekends. Duties may include assistance with Chapter events, educational programs, membership recruitment, database management, and administrative office support.

The Washington, D.C. Chapter is currently accepting applications for a GRAMMY U Student Representative. The Recording Academy, representing all facets of the recording industry and internationally known for the GRAMMY Awards, offers college students an opportunity to gain useful training in programming, office administration, nonprofit management, membership development, and hands-on access to music industry events.
The Academy offers a stipend and will work to accommodate college credit requirements where appropriate.

H.D. Cooke Elementary School, Washington, D.C. ($2,500)
To support the participation of the H.D. Cooke choir and band in the 2010 Kings Dominion festival.
Wilson High School, Washington, D.C. ($2,500)
To establish an after-school music tutoring program that will provide music instruction for several instruments including flute, saxophone, trumpet, violin, piano, guitar, and percussion, among others.
Bell Multicultural High School, Washington, D.C. ($2,000)
To establish an after-school music tutoring and instruction program for at-risk middle school students currently taking music as part of their course curriculum.
Levine School Of Music, Washington, D.C. ($2,000)
To support scholarships for six students to study for one semester at the Levine School of Music's music campus at THEARC.

GRAMMY U is a unique and fast-growing community of college students who are pursuing careers in the music industry. The Recording Academy created GRAMMY U to help prepare students for careers in the recording industry through networking, educational programs and performance opportunities. The program is designed to enhance students' current academic curriculum with access to recording industry professionals to give an "out of classroom" perspective on the recording industry. Members of GRAMMY U enjoy many of the benefits offered to The Academy's regular members, but at a quarter of the cost of membership. Annual membership in GRAMMY U is $25 per year.

In late 2000, The Recording Academy initiated the Producers & Engineers Wing, a
national membership division of the Academy established for producers, engineers,
remixers, manufacturers, and other related creative and technical professionals
in our community. The P&E Wing provides the Academy with a vehicle to reach a specific
constituency, to craft advocacy positions, and to better address the daily concerns
